Abstract
DF. Materiais e Métodos: Foram avaliados 49 escolares (11 meninas e 49 meninos),
com idade média de 9,7±1,4 anos. O estudo analisou a seguinte variável dependente:
Introduction: Physical inactivity and inadequate diet contribute to childhood obesity, which can influence adult life, causing several chronic diseases. Objective: We evaluated 49 schoolchildren (11 girls and 49 boys), with a mean age of 9.7 ± 1.4 years. The study analyzed the following dependent variable: body mass index (BMI), level of physical activity (NAF), gender and taste of the students by Physical Education. Materials and Methods: We evaluated 49 schoolchildren (11 girls and 49 boys), with a mean age of 9.7 ± 1.4 years. The study analyzed the following dependent variable: body mass index (BMI), level of physical activity (NAF) and gender of the students. Results: There were no significant differences (p <0.05) when compared to the quartiles for NAF in the investigated BMI variable. When checked the frequency of response regarding whether students, like, like a little or do not like to practice physical activity, the dislike condition was more prevalent 54.2%. Conclusion: The results showed that NAF and BMI had a significant difference. Lifestyle, physical activity, and time spent outside of school seem to be influencers of being overweight and overweight.
